The Way to Heaven
There is just one God and he is a Holy God. He created the world full of beauty with evidence of intelligent design everywhere. He also made us in his image to know him and be in fellowship with Him and each other in harmony. But we sinned and cut ourselves off from God. The consequence being physical death and our souls becoming polluted by selfishness. We became broken.
Humanity’s brokeness is clearly seen in the evils of violence, war, betrayal, envy, greed, slander, deceit and abuse. In our ignorance to God, we search high and low for the reason to our brokenness but we are the problem. We have not lived for God, we have not followed his rules and made up our own and we have not valued a relationship with him.
The Bible calls this sin and it means to transgress the divine law causing us to run from God and trying to do life our own way. Sin is taking the title of God and putting it upon ourselves. It is because of sin that we as humans have become hostile, not only towards God, but towards each other.
From the beginning, humanity has attempted to remove the stain of sin through good deeds but the Bible says the consequence of sin is death. All of us fall short of the glory of God but there is good news. In fact, it’s the most important ‘good news’ a human being can receive in their lifetime. God does not wish to leave us in our brokenness and devised a way for us to be reconciled back to him through his son Jesus Christ.
In God’s great love, Jesus came to earth, lived the perfect sin-free life that we are incapable of, and died for our sins. He took our punishment upon Himself. In His final moment on the cross, Jesus cried out the words “It is finished” (John 19:30). What he meant was that the price for our sins was paid. Jesus was fully God and man. As a perfect human, he could die for other humans and as the true and living God, his payment for sin was infinite.
God now calls us to repent of our sins and to trust in Christ alone for our forgiveness. If we repent of our sins and trust in Christ, we are born again into a new life, an eternal life with God. This is the way to Heaven. We cannot earn our a place there through good deeds. Jesus did it all on the cross. We just have to believe to receive the free gift of grace.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3). Being born again is not just a metaphor or title but a tangible, spiritual event. The moment we believe in Christ with our hearts, God sends His Holy Spirt to live with us. Words can’t express the beauty of such an encounter.
God will heal and strengthen you and fill you with overflowing peace and love. Worldly fears will melt away because you will know you belong to the almighty God and your citizenship is now in Heaven. Difficult times lie ahead for this world. It’s time to get on the only lifeboat there is – Jesus Christ.
Three Steps to Salvation
ADMIT the things you have done wrong and call out to Him with your heart and ask forgiveness.
“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Rpmans 3:23)
“The wages of sin is death.” (Romans 6:23)
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:9 )
BELIEVE that Jesus died on the cross and rose again as a payment for your sins. If you struggle with belief, read the Gospels and ask Jesus to
reveal Himself to you in His Word.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
“Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4 )
“ But God demonstrates His own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
CONFESS and choose to allow God to be in charge of your life.
“Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” (Matthew 16:24)
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
