Privacy and cookies
This website is run by Debbie Clark, who decides how the information below is used. It is a simple site with no accounts, no adverts and no tracking. If you have any questions about your information, please use the contact form.
Cookies
This website sets no cookies for visitors, and uses no analytics, advertising or social media trackers. It does not load anything from other companies’ servers while you browse. That is why there is no cookie banner.
The only cookie on the site keeps Debbie signed in while she looks after the website. It is never set for anyone else.
Counting visits
So that Debbie can see roughly how many people visit and which paintings they look at, the website counts page visits on its own server. It keeps only the page, the name of the website you came from (such as Google), whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer, and whether you went on to Etsy or shared a painting.
Nothing is stored on your device. To tell one visitor from another within a single day, your internet address and browser are mixed with a random value that is replaced every night, and only the scrambled result is kept, so it can’t identify you or link your visits on different days. Each day’s details are turned into simple totals the next day. This is done because it is in Debbie’s legitimate interest to know how her website is used, in a way that doesn’t identify anyone.
Sharing buttons
The share buttons on each painting are plain links. Nothing from Facebook, Pinterest or WhatsApp is loaded on this website; they only see anything if you click one.
The contact form
If you send a message, your name, email address and message are emailed to Debbie and kept in a private record on the website’s server, so that nothing gets lost. They are used only to reply to you, because you asked, and are never shared or used for marketing.
The website’s record of your message is deleted after two years. Debbie’s emails with you are kept like any other correspondence, and you can ask for those to be deleted too.
To protect the form from abuse, the server briefly keeps a scrambled (hashed) form of your internet address for up to an hour. Messages that look like spam are kept for three months and then deleted.
Where it is kept
The website and its records are on a server rented from Hostinger, which looks after the machine but does not use the information. Messages from the contact form are sent to Debbie’s email inbox.
Buying on Etsy
Paintings, prints and books are sold through Etsy. When you follow a link to Etsy, Etsy’s own privacy policy applies there.
Links to other sites
Links to YouTube, Instagram and Facebook take you to those sites, which have their own privacy policies.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information held about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted, and you can object to how it is used. Please use the contact form. If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
