Poem – The End

I had a dream that darkness came
To our world filled with hidden shame.
It came so fast, there was no time.
Forgive us Lord for all our crime.

Selfish, arrogant and full of lies,
Yet wise and kind in our own eyes.
We turned our backs on our Creator,
Viewing ourselves as so much greater.

But we are a mere blade of grass,
That withers and dies as our days pass.
It’s time to leave our ivory tower,
As our soul’s fate lies in God’s power.

Despite our rebellious, sinful behaviour,
Jesus came to be our saviour,
Rescuing us from condemnation,
And offering reconciliation.

Believe in Him with our whole heart,
And nothing can tear our souls apart.
Come to know His amazing love,
Forgiveness and kindness from above.

But it was just a dream they say,
Despite the evil of the day.
Judgement comes without warning.
Don’t delay until the morning.
